It also combines the benefits ofWarrior I (<em>Virabhadrasana I<\/em>)\u00a0and Crescent Lunge Twist (<em>Parivrtta Anjaneyasana<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>The Sanskrit name for this pose, \u201cParivrtta Parsvakonasana\u201d (PAHR-ee-VREE-tah PARZH-vuh-ko-NAHS-uh-nuh), comes from four words:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cParivrtta\u201d \u2014 meaning \u201crevolved\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cParsva\u201d \u2014 meaning \u201cside\u201d or \u201cflank\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cKona\u201d \u2014 meaning \u201cangle\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cAsana\u201d \u2014 meaning \u201cpose\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It also goes by various English names, including \u201cTwisting Side Angle,\u201d \u201cRotated Side Angle,\u201d \u201cSide Angle Twist,\u201d and others. But no matter what your yoga teacher calls it, you\u2019ll still gain all of the benefits from practicing this challenging, standing twist!<\/p>\n<h2>Benefits of Revolved Side Angle Pose<\/h2>\n<p>Revolved Side Angle stretches, tones, and strengthens the entire body, inside and out. It stretches the thighs, knees, ankles, calves, groins, chest, and shoulders. This pose builds strength in the legs, as well, particularly in the quadriceps and ankles.
