Dr. Hemlata Ji comes from Uttarakhand, often called “Devbhoomi,” the land of the gods. Her path into yoga began from an unusually clinical starting point. She first trained as a physiotherapist at CIMSR Dehradun, where she worked on genuinely serious cases, including rib fractures and spinal cord injuries — work that demands real precision and a deep, mechanical understanding of the human body. Rather than stopping at physiotherapy, she went on to complete a PG Diploma and a Master’s degree in Yoga, and has since spent more than a decade working across hospitals and dedicated wellness centres. This combination of clinical training and yogic study is genuinely rare, and it is exactly what shapes her teaching today.
In her classes, Dr. Hemlata focuses on Yoga Anatomy and Physio Yoga Therapy. She understands the body from a medical point of view first, then applies that understanding through a yogic lens. Her sessions are methodical and detailed, but never cold or overly clinical, and students get a genuine explanation of what their body is doing during each posture, and why a particular practice actually helps. Because of her physiotherapy background, she is often the teacher students turn to when they are unsure how to work safely around an old injury or a specific health condition during training.
Her classes give students not just technique, but a real, working understanding of anatomy that supports everything else they learn at the academy.
She leads: Physio Yoga Therapy and Clinical Anatomy classes in Rishikesh TTC programmes.
