Yansa Ji was born in Klungkung, Bali, in 1972. His first encounter with yoga came from a book he found in the sixth grade. Curious but untrained, he began trying the poses on his own, with no teacher to guide or correct him. Long before yoga became central to his life, Yansa lived with serious chronic pain and depended on daily medication just to manage it. A doctor once recommended a colonoscopy for his condition, but instead, Yansa chose to explore fasting as an alternative way to heal. That decision led him to his first true mentor, Dada Vibhakarananda, and under his guidance, both his health and his understanding of yoga changed completely.
He was later initiated into the Ananda Marga community and went on to complete his 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training under Master Manohara and Dada Vibhakarananda himself. That personal journey through pain and recovery shapes how he teaches today. He tends to pay as much attention to a student’s mindset and mental state as he does to their physical posture, treating the two as deeply connected rather than separate, and his classes carry a quiet, personal authenticity that comes from having lived through real physical struggle himself.
Students training under Yansa often describe his classes as grounding, with a strong spiritual undercurrent beneath the physical practice. He teaches with genuine gratitude, often reminding students that his own life changed through yoga, and that he is simply passing that same possibility on to them.
He leads: 50, 100, 200, 300, and 500 Hour Yoga TTC at the Bali campus.
