Understanding The Basics

What Is 100 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Course?

The 100 hours yoga teacher training in Rishikesh is a short-term programme that introduces students to the core foundations of yoga, including asana, pranayama, meditation, yoga philosophy, and anatomy.

  • Perfect Starting Point

It’s the perfect starting point for anyone new to yoga teacher training, especially beginners who want to experience authentic yoga in a simple, well-structured, and supportive environment.

  • No Experience Required

You don’t need any prior yoga experience to join, just a genuine interest in learning. It’s a welcoming starting point for anyone who feels ready to begin their yoga journey.

  • Deepen Your Practice

For those already practising, this course is a structured opportunity to deepen your understanding, refine your practice, and begin building the foundations of teaching.

Course Structure

Understanding The Structure Of The 100 Hour YTTC In Rishikesh

The 100 hour curriculum is organized around five traditional pillars of yoga. Together they form a complete, if compact, introduction to practice and teaching — the same structure that underpins our 200 and 300 hour programs, scaled down to fit an 8-day immersion.

Each pillar is taught daily, so rather than studying one topic for a week and moving on, you return to every subject every day. This repetition — the traditional gurukul method — is what makes 100 hours of genuine immersion noticeably different from the same number of hours spread across weekends at home.

Vinyasa Yoga Academy focuses on improved sleep quality, increased energy, mental health, stress relief, and physical well-being. We are a worldwide yoga community that follows karma yoga. We are here to offer ancient and traditional yoga practices of the Himalayas. As a yoga community, you will have some responsibilities and rules that you must follow.

You will be responsible for cleaning your space and it will foster a yogic sense in you. This responsibility deepens your yoga knowledge and basic principles. Our students are not allowed to consume meat, fish, eggs, non-vegetarian food, tobacco-based products, or alcohol during the course. These reduce the positive energy levels in your body and fill your mind with negative energy.

You need to stay away from bad habits to become a true yogi and learn traditional yoga practices. Your teachers are your well-wishers and you need to respect their decisions. Maintaining a calm and positive environment helps you bring your awareness back to your body.

I had the opportunity to experience 15 days 100 hours Teachers training course at Vinyasa Yoga Academy at Rishikesh second half of February 2017. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. We were fılled with possitive energy from the beggining. The food was delicious.Their chef was so friendly, Housekeeper boy and receptionists were very helpfull. I improved my meditation and pranayama techniques a lot because of our dear teacher Rana Ji. Meditation was boring for me untill I met RanaJi.

You can use this training to offer private yoga sessions, assist in studios, lead wellness workshops, work at retreat centres, or build an online practice, all while continuing to deepen your knowledge.

For those serious about a full yoga teaching career, the 100 hour training is the ideal first step toward the 200 hour yoga teacher training, which is the internationally recognised Yoga Alliance standard for becoming a certified yoga teacher. Your 100 hours of study, practice, and discipline in Rishikesh prepare you exceptionally well for that next level. Many of our students complete both programmes in a single visit, leaving Rishikesh with the foundation, the experience, and the full qualification they need to teach confidently anywhere in the world.

Become A Successful Yoga Teacher

We Are Giving Back To Society

Yoga has always meant more to us than postures and breathing techniques. From the very beginning, Vinyasa Yoga Academy was built on the belief that real yoga lives in how you treat the world around you. Rishikesh gave us a home, a community, and a purpose, and giving back to this land is something we feel in our bones, not something we planned on a whiteboard.

Over the years, we have worked closely with orphanages in Rishikesh, bringing meals, shelter support, and yoga to children who needed steadiness in their lives. We have also run health awareness camps for families in the local area who rarely get access to basic medical guidance, simple sessions on hygiene, preventive care, and healthy habits that most of us take for granted. We take pride in conducting cleaning initiatives to make the environment cleaner, and we actively advocate waste management methods to improve the community's general health.

FAQ - 100 Hours Yoga TTC In Rishikesh

Who Can Join A 100 Hours Yoga Teacher Training In Rishikesh India?

Anyone can join this course. It is open for beginners, yoga lovers, and even those who want to explore yoga before joining a full teacher training programme.

Do I Need Prior Yoga Experience To Join This Course?

No, prior experience is not required. You can start as a beginner as long as you are willing to learn and practise regularly.

What Will I Learn During The 100 Hour Yoga TTC At Vinyasa?

You will learn yoga asanas, pranayama, meditation, basic anatomy, and yoga philosophy. You will also get an introduction to teaching methods.

How Long Is The 100 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Course?

The course usually lasts for 8 days, depending on the yoga school's schedule and structure.

Will I Get A Certificate After Completing The 100 Hrs Course?

Yes. You will receive a Vinyasa Yoga Academy 100-Hour Completion Certificate upon successfully finishing the course. This certificate counts toward your Yoga Alliance RYT 200 registration — meaning when you complete the remaining 100 hours through the full 200-hour training, you become eligible to register as an RYT 200 with Yoga Alliance.

Are We Given Individual Time With Teachers?

Yes, at Vinyasa Yoga Academy, you can always ask and discuss your queries/doubts with our teachers. We love healthy discussions on yoga and the world.

What Should I Pack For The 100 Hour Yoga Training?

Comfortable yoga clothes, a reusable water bottle, toiletries, a notebook, a light shawl or jacket, and an open mind! We provide yoga mats, but you can bring your own if preferred.

What Language Is The Course Taught In?

We teach entirely in English, and we keep it simple and conversational. Over the years we have welcomed students from more than 100 countries, so our teachers are used to explaining concepts clearly to people from all kinds of linguistic backgrounds. You will never feel lost in class.

Will I Get Any Teaching Practice During The Course?

Yes, you will get basic exposure to teaching techniques and guidance on how to structure a yoga class.

Is Accommodation Included In The Course?

Yes, your stay is included. We offer both private and shared room options depending on what you book, and all meals are covered too. The idea is that once you arrive, you can put your mind fully on the training without worrying about anything else.

What Kind Of Food Will I Be Eating During The Training?

All meals are freshly cooked sattvic vegetarian food, the traditional yogic diet. Think wholesome, light, nourishing meals that keep your energy steady through long practice days. Most students are surprised by how much they enjoy the food, even those who have never eaten this way before.

Can I Upgrade To The 200 Hour Training After This?

Absolutely. The 100 hour course is designed to flow directly into the 200 hour YTTC. You can join the remaining 100 hours either immediately after or at a later date that suits you. Once you complete the full 200 hours, you become eligible to register as an RYT 200 with Yoga Alliance.

Are There Any Discounts Available?

Can I Teach After Completing This 100 Hour Course?

The 100-hour course provides foundational yoga knowledge and a VYA completion certificate — it is not independently sufficient for Yoga Alliance RYT 200 registration or professional teaching certification. To teach professionally and register as an RYT 200 with Yoga Alliance, you need to complete the full 200-hour training. However, the 100-hour course is the perfect first step toward that goal.

Is It Safe To Travel To Rishikesh For This Course?

Yes, Rishikesh is considered one of the safest and most welcoming destinations for yoga students from around the world.
