Understanding The Basics

What Is Yin Yoga?

Yin Yoga is a slow, floor-based practice where postures are held for three to five minutes at a time. While most styles work the muscles, Yin goes deeper into the connective tissue, fascia, ligaments, and joints — rooted in the meridian system of traditional Chinese medicine.

  • Perfect Starting Point

It’s the perfect starting point for anyone new to yoga teacher training, especially beginners who want to experience authentic yoga in a simple, well-structured, and supportive environment.

  • No Experience Required

You don’t need any prior yoga experience to join, just a genuine interest in learning. It’s a welcoming starting point for anyone who feels ready to begin their yoga journey.

  • Deepen Your Practice

For those already practising, this course is a structured opportunity to deepen your understanding, refine your practice, and begin building the foundations of teaching.

Vinyasa Yoga Academy focuses on improved sleep quality, increased energy, mental health, stress relief, and physical well-being. We are a worldwide yoga community that follows karma yoga. We are here to offer ancient and traditional yoga practices of the Himalayas. As a yoga community, you will have some responsibilities and rules that you must follow.

You will be responsible for cleaning your space and it will foster a yogic sense in you. This responsibility deepens your yoga knowledge and basic principles. Our students are not allowed to consume meat, fish, eggs, non-vegetarian food, tobacco-based products, or alcohol during the course. These reduce the positive energy levels in your body and fill your mind with negative energy.

You need to stay away from bad habits to become a true yogi and learn traditional yoga practices. Your teachers are your well-wishers and you need to respect their decisions. Maintaining a calm and positive environment helps you bring your awareness back to your body.

How Your Day Looks Like

Daily Schedule of the Yin Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh

One of the most beautiful things about training in Rishikesh is the rhythm the day naturally takes on. At Vinyasa Yoga Academy, every day is thoughtfully structured to balance practice, learning, and rest.

The day begins at 5:00 AM with personal sadhana and flows into guided Yin practice, pranayama, and meditation, setting a tone of stillness that carries through everything that follows. Mornings are spent in the classroom, exploring philosophy and teaching methodology. Afternoons go deeper into the body meridian system, self-study, and a grounding Yang practice to balance the day.

It closes the way it should — with dinner and a quiet walk to the Ganga Beach for evening meditation beneath the Himalayan sky. A day that moves from stillness to knowledge to movement and back to silence.

  • Building teaching skills
  • Transition poses between long holds

  • Right placement of props
  • Contraindications and challenges

  • How to teach the 27 Yin postures with their variations

People come to this training for all kinds of reasons. Some arrive with a clear goal in mind. Some arrive simply because something inside them said it was time. But by day five, almost everyone walks away with something they did not expect — a clearer sense of who they are, a deeper relationship with their own body, and often a quiet realisation that this is just the beginning.

When you complete the course and its assessment, you will receive the VYA 50-Hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training Completion Certificate issued by a Yoga Alliance RYS 500-registered, ISO 9001:2015-certified school trusted and recognised worldwide. This certificate qualifies you to guide Yin Yoga sessions in studios and community spaces, add Continuing Education hours toward your Yoga Alliance RYT renewal cycle, and bring Yin Yoga tools into existing health or wellness work. It is also a direct stepping stone toward the 100-Hour and 200-Hour YTTC pathways if you choose to continue.

Most yoga training programmes devote very little dedicated time to Yin Yoga. A class here, a module there. This 50-hour training gives it everything — meridian theory, fascia science, sustained holding techniques, and the particular quality of attention required to teach stillness well. Whether you ever stand in front of a class or not, this depth changes how you practise permanently.

Become A Successful Yoga Teacher

We Are Giving Back To Society

Yoga has always meant more to us than postures and breathing techniques. From the very beginning, Vinyasa Yoga Academy was built on the belief that real yoga lives in how you treat the world around you. Rishikesh gave us a home, a community, and a purpose, and giving back to this land is something we feel in our bones, not something we planned on a whiteboard.

Over the years, we have worked closely with orphanages in Rishikesh, bringing meals, shelter support, and yoga to children who needed steadiness in their lives. We have also run health awareness camps for families in the local area who rarely get access to basic medical guidance, simple sessions on hygiene, preventive care, and healthy habits that most of us take for granted. We take pride in conducting cleaning initiatives to make the environment cleaner, and we actively advocate waste management methods to improve the community's general health.

Questions You May Have

Frequently Asked Questions About Yin Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh

What Is Yin Yoga?

Yin Yoga is a slow, floor-based style of practice where postures are held for three to five minutes at a time. Rather than working the muscles, it targets the deeper connective tissue, the fascia, ligaments, and joints. It draws from the meridian system of Traditional Chinese Medicine, working with the body’s energy pathways to improve flexibility, reduce chronic tension, and cultivate genuine stillness in the mind as well as the body.

Do I Need Prior Yoga Experience To Join The 50-Hour YTTC In Rishikesh?

No. The programme is designed to be accessible to complete beginners. Sessions are structured progressively from the foundation up, with individual guidance from faculty throughout the five days. The only real requirement is consistent attendance and genuine engagement with the schedule.

How Does A 5-Day Course Add Up To 50 Hours?

Each day runs from 5:00 AM to early evening, with 8 hours of live teaching and 2 hours of structured self-study — 10 hours per day across 5 days. The total is 50 hours, all of it purposeful.

What Should I Bring For The 50-Hour Yin YTTC In Rishikesh?

Comfortable, loose yoga clothing; a light layer for the early mornings (Rishikesh mornings can be cool, especially in winter); walking shoes or sandals; sunscreen; a personal water bottle; toiletries; and a notebook and pen. Yoga mats and props are provided on campus. White clothing is welcome for any ceremonies during the programme.

What Language Are The Sessions Taught In?

All sessions are conducted entirely in English. Our faculty have taught students from over 100 countries and are experienced in making complex concepts clear and accessible to everyone in the room.

When Does This Training Run In Rishikesh And How Often?

The 50-Hour Yin YTTC runs monthly throughout the year, starting on the 23rd of each month and running for 5 days. You will almost always find a batch that fits your travel window.

What Is The Refund And Cancellation Policy?

Your booking deposit secures your place and is transferable to any future date within 12 months of your original start date. If you need to cancel entirely, please reach us by email. Full programme fees paid in advance are non-refundable. For any queries, call us at +91-8755744872.

What Certificate Will I Receive After Completing This Course?

You will receive the VYA 50-Hour Yin Yoga Completion Certificate from Vinyasa Yoga Academy, issued by a Yoga Alliance RYS 500-registered, ISO 9001:2015-certified school with an established international reputation.

How Is Yin Yoga Different From Restorative Yoga?

Both are slow and floor-based, but they serve distinctly different purposes. Restorative Yoga is about complete rest — postures are fully supported with props so the body can let go entirely. Yin Yoga applies a gentle, sustained stress to the connective tissue, working it in a targeted and intentional way. One lets the body rest completely; the other works it quietly and deeply.

Can I Practise Yin Yoga Every Day?

Yes, for most people, a daily Yin practice is entirely safe and deeply beneficial. Because Yin targets connective tissue rather than muscle, recovery works differently than it does after a stronger style of practice. A daily session of thirty to sixty minutes is sustainable and often restorative rather than depleting.

How Do I Get To The VYA Campus In Rishikesh?

The nearest major airport is Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun, approximately 35 kilometres from Rishikesh. VYA offers paid airport and railway station pickup. Once you have your travel details confirmed, let us know and we will help arrange your arrival. Taxis and shared cabs from Haridwar and Dehradun are also readily available.

What Are The Benefits Of A Yin Yoga Teacher Training Specifically?

A Yin-specific training gives you tools that very few general yoga certifications cover — the meridian system, fascia science, sustained holding techniques, and the particular quality of attention required to teach silence well. These are valuable whether you intend to teach professionally or simply want to practise with greater understanding and self-sufficiency.

Can I Teach Yin Yoga After Completing 50 Hours?

You will leave with a solid foundation in Yin theory, postures, and sequencing. If your goal is to teach professionally in a studio context, most studios will also want to see a full 200-hour foundational certification alongside your Yin specialisation.

Can This 50-Hour Certificate Count Toward A Longer Yoga Alliance Training Later?

Yes. The 50-hour certificate is a direct stepping stone toward the 100-Hour Yoga Teacher Training, which in turn counts toward the Yoga Alliance RYT 200 pathway. If you decide to continue, your foundation carries forward.

Can I Register With Yoga Alliance After Completing This Course?

Yes. Upon completing the 50-Hour Yin Yoga Training, you are eligible to apply for YACEP registration with Yoga Alliance, recognising your continuing education in the tradition.
