Understanding The Basics

What Is Kundalini Yoga?

Kundalini Yoga is one of the most powerful and transformative forms of yoga in existence — and for good reason. Often called the “Yoga of Awareness”, it goes far deeper than physical movement. Kundalini Yoga is about awakening the dormant energy known as Kundalini Shakti that lies coiled at the base of the spine and guiding it upward through the body's energy centres, known as chakras.

It brings together breath, sound, movement, and stillness in a way that works on your mind and energy as much as your body. Over time, this creates a deeper shift — not just in how you practise, but in how you feel and respond in daily life.

  • Awakens Dormant Kundalini Shakti

Through kriya, breath, mantra and awareness, the practice activates the subtle energy coiled at the base of the spine and guides it upward through the chakras.

  • Works On Body, Mind and Energy

Kundalini Yoga unites breath, sound, movement and stillness so the practice works on your mind and energy as deeply as it works on your body.

  • Pathway To 300 Hour Kundalini YTTC

Once you complete this training, you are eligible to enrol in the 300 Hour Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh and master the deeper science of the practice.

Course Structure

Understanding The Structure Of The 200 Hour Kundalini YTTC In Rishikesh

The 200 hour curriculum is organised around the traditional pillars of Kundalini Yoga and covers over 10 core subjects across the full duration of the course — each taught as its own dedicated module by a specialist teacher, so the depth you get in every area is genuine and not surface-level.

Each subject is revisited through the course so rather than studying one topic for a week and moving on, you return to every subject consistently. This repetition — the traditional gurukul method — is what makes 25 days of genuine immersion noticeably different from the same number of hours spread across weekends at home.

Discipline In Our Yoga Community

Discipline and a Yogic Lifestyle in Our Community

Joining us here isn't just about showing up for a class — it's about becoming part of something a little deeper. At Vinyasa Yoga Academy, we live and learn together as a small community, and that shared experience is honestly one of the most meaningful parts of the journey.

We follow the spirit of Karma Yoga in our day-to-day life, which means showing up with care for yourself, for others and for the space around you. Something as simple as keeping your room tidy, arriving on time, or being mindful of the people around you might seem small, but these small acts quietly build the kind of focus and inner steadiness that no single class ever could.

When it comes to lifestyle, we keep things simple and clean. All meals here are vegetarian, and we ask everyone to avoid alcohol, tobacco, drugs, and non-vegetarian food during their stay. This isn't about rules for the sake of rules — it's about creating an environment where your mind stays clear, your body feels balanced and you can actually be fully present in what you came here to do.

Become A Successful Yoga Teacher

We Are Giving Back To Society

Yoga has always meant more to us than postures and breathing techniques. From the very beginning, Vinyasa Yoga Academy was built on the belief that real yoga lives in how you treat the world around you. Rishikesh gave us a home, a community, and a purpose, and giving back to this land is something we feel in our bones, not something we planned on a whiteboard.

Over the years, we have worked closely with orphanages in Rishikesh, bringing meals, shelter support, and yoga to children who needed steadiness in their lives. We have also run health awareness camps for families in the local area who rarely get access to basic medical guidance, simple sessions on hygiene, preventive care, and healthy habits that most of us take for granted. We take pride in conducting cleaning initiatives to make the environment cleaner, and we actively advocate waste management methods to improve the community's general health.

Questions You May Have

Frequently Asked Questions – 200-Hour Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training In Rishikesh

I've Never Done Yoga Before. Can I Still Join This Training?

Absolutely. A lot of our students come in with little to no experience, and that's completely fine. The training is built in a way that meets you where you are. You'll be guided through everything step by step, so there's no need to feel intimidated if you're just starting out.

How Long Does The 200-Hour Kundalini Training Actually Take?

The 200-hour Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training is a 24-day intensive residential program. During this time, students stay at the school and follow a structured daily schedule that includes yoga practice, theory sessions, meditation, and self-study. If you want a breakdown of specific dates and batches, just give us a call at +91-8755744872.

I Have A Health Condition. Is It Safe For Me To Join?

Your safety is our priority. It is recommended to consult your doctor before joining and inform the school in advance so that teachers can guide you accordingly.

What Kind Of Environment Can I Expect At The School?

A peaceful, supportive and disciplined environment that encourages growth, learning and self-awareness. Feel free to reach out at +91-8755744872 if you'd like to know more.

Do I Need To Be Physically Fit Or Flexible To Join?

Not at all. Flexibility is something that comes with practice, not a prerequisite for it. Whether you can touch your toes or not doesn't matter. The training will work with your body as it is right now and help you build both strength and flexibility over time.

What Does A Typical Day Look Like During The Training?

Your day starts early, usually with morning practice, which really sets the tone for everything that follows. After that, you move through theory sessions, meditation, self-study, and an evening practice or wind-down. It's a full day, but a deeply fulfilling one. Call us at +91-8755744872 for a more detailed schedule.

Does The Course Fee Include Accommodation?

Yes, it does. This is a fully residential programme, so your stay is covered for the entire duration of the training. For more details call us at +91-8755744872.

What Kind Of Food Will I Be Eating During The Course?

You'll be having sattvic vegetarian meals every day — freshly prepared, wholesome food that's specifically chosen to support your practice and keep your energy steady. Students are often pleasantly surprised by how much they enjoy eating this way.

Are There Any Lifestyle Rules During The Training?

Yes, and they're there for a reason. Students are expected to eat vegetarian and stay away from alcohol, tobacco, and anything else that might dull the practice. It might feel like an adjustment at first, but most people find it genuinely freeing once they settle in.

How Do I Book My Spot, And What's The Cancellation Policy?

To confirm your place, you'll need to pay a 20% deposit in advance. This amount is non-refundable, but if something comes up, you can reschedule within a year of your original booking, subject to availability. For any booking-related questions, call us at +91-8755744872.

What Should I Pack? Is There A Dress Code?

Just bring clothes you're comfortable moving in — loose, breathable yoga wear works perfectly. There's no formal dress code during training, but we do appreciate modest clothing overall. If you plan to visit any temples or sacred spots nearby, make sure to cover your shoulders and knees out of respect.

Are There Any Tests Or Assessments During The Course?

Yes, there are simple assessments like teaching practice and basic theory evaluation to ensure your understanding.

What If I Have To Miss A Session?

We really do encourage full attendance — you'll get the most out of the training that way. But life happens, and if you have a genuine reason for missing a class, speak to your teacher. They'll help you understand what was covered and guide you on how to catch up.

What Makes Rishikesh A Popular Place For Yoga Training?

Rishikesh is known as the "Yoga Capital of the World," offering a peaceful environment, spiritual energy, and a strong yoga tradition.

Can I Go On To The 300-Hour Training After This?

Yes, and many students do. Once you've completed your 200-hour Kundalini yoga teacher training, you're eligible to continue with the 300-hour programme to deepen your knowledge, refine your teaching, and expand what you're able to offer your future students.
