One Complete Path to Mastery

What Is the 500 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Course?

The 500 hour Yoga Teacher Training is the most prestigious credential recognised by Yoga Alliance USA. It represents a total commitment to the study of yoga in its entirety. Instead of breaking your education into separate years, this all-in-one journey allows you to stay in the flow of transformation without interruption.

The most important thing about doing 500 hours as one continuous programme rather than two separate courses is integration. When you build from foundation to advanced without a gap in between, the knowledge does not sit in separate mental compartments. It connects. Your teaching methodology evolves in real time as your personal practice develops. This continuity is what makes the 500-hour format distinctly more powerful than completing 200 and 300 separately, with months or years between them.

What does 500 hours actually mean? It is the total number of contact training hours across practical yoga sessions, theory classes, teaching practice, self-study, and supervised practicum, all documented and verified to Yoga Alliance's international standards. At Vinyasa Yoga Academy, every hour is logged and accounted for before your certificate is issued.

  • Complete Foundation + Advanced Training

The 200-hour foundation and 300-hour advanced training combined into one structured programme — a complete education, not two separate courses stitched together.

  • Every Contact Hour Documented

Every practical, theory, teaching practice and practicum hour is logged and documented, meeting Yoga Alliance's internationally recognised 500-hour standards.

  • Qualifies You As An RYT-500

On completion you are eligible to register as an RYT 500 with Yoga Alliance — the highest internationally recognised yoga teaching credential.

Discipline In Our Yoga Community

Disciplines You Need To Follow In Our Yoga Community

At Vinyasa Yoga Academy, discipline is a practice we choose from within, and it begins the moment you arrive. Our Bali training community is rooted in the teachings of Karma Yoga: selfless service, self-inquiry, and conscious living. These principles shape how you share spaces, how you eat, sleep, and show up for your fellow students and teachers every single day. The Balinese spirit of 'Tri Hita Karana', i.e., harmony with people, nature, and the divine, quietly leads everything here, making Bali a uniquely powerful place to truly practice what you learn.

As a student in this programme, you are asked to maintain a sattvic way of living during your yoga training. This means keeping personal and shared spaces clean, refraining from meat, fish, eggs, alcohol, and tobacco, and embracing the early-morning schedule with commitment. These are not restrictions, but tools. They sharpen your focus, calm your nervous system, and create the internal conditions where core shift through learning becomes possible.

  • Every Thursday is observed as a Silence Day, following the traditional practice of "Moana Vratham"
  • Students are encouraged to sleep by 9:30 PM to support the physical demands and early rhythm of the daily schedule

My experience has been incredible. If you are looking for good learning experience, this is the place to be. Believe me you, I checked over 20 Yoga schools in Rishikesh and I was terribly confused. And one fine day I just reached Rishikesh with no plans, I visited this place hidden in narrow lanes, surrounded by Greenery and it also fit my schedule good, so I just booked it. It was a very good decision. It is worth every second and penny and ounce of energy you'll spend here. Teachers: Some fantastic minds at work.

I really enjoyed and would highly recommend this course. All the teachers were lovely and helpful and very patient at answering the many questions that we had, particularly on the what's app group that was set up so we could share info etc. The live classes were great to participate in but the amount of recorded material provided by the instructors was very informative so missing a few of them didn't affect the overall learning experience.

Angela L.

This was my first yoga teacher training, and I could not have chosen a better school. Although Covid-19 ended my trip to Rishikesh, India, I felt this course brought it to me. The hearts of the teachers beat with true yogi passion. Although I still have a long way to go in my studies, these instructors gave me the tools to continue my path. Their holistic approach to teaching the traditional ways is a gift, and I felt blessed to learn from them every day of study.

Couldn't be more thankful for this amazing journey and experience. The school is placed in a quiet part of Rishikesh, 10min walking from the center, with an incredible view over the mountains. The Teachers are amazing, full of knowledge, professional and always free to help us and to push us forward. The staff is lovely and always trying their best, this is India and not everything will happen as we're expecting, but in the end we will have the best of them. The food is just heaven...

I did the 200 TTC in April 2018 and I had an amazing time at the school. It was so good I even stayed longer just to enjoy Rishikesh and do some self-practice. The food is yummy, tastes like home-cooked food, the stuff is friendly, funny and supportive! It never gets boring, the course is quiet intense but you will learn so much (and there is time for selfcare or moments of silence)! Best of all was that all the teachers were so dedicated and passionated about their subject, I have enjoyed each lesson and discussion! Plus I had a wonderful group, so…

Teaching

The 500 hour Yoga TTC in Bali is the professional ceiling for yoga teaching courses. It indicates that you have completed the highest level of official yoga teacher education available worldwide and opens up a unique set of opportunities compared to any other qualification in this field. What you leave Bali with will shape your life for as long as you choose to teach or simply practise yoga.

In the global community of yoga, Yoga Alliance USA is the primary governing body that sets the standard for quality, safety, and ethics in yoga education. Completing your training at Vinyasa Yoga Academy, an active RYS 500 Registered Yoga School, means your 500 hours meet the highest international benchmarks for excellence. Whether you are applying to teach at a luxury resort in Bali, a high-end studio in London, or an online wellness platform, the RYT 500 designation tells the world that you have undergone a rigorous, comprehensive education in both the foundational and advanced sciences of yoga.

The Path to Your RYT 500 Credential:

  • Complete Your Training: Successfully graduate from our 500-hour immersion to receive your VYA completion certificate.
  • Register Your Hours: Upload your 500-hour credentials to the Yoga Alliance website to verify your advanced education.
  • Document Teaching Experience: As per Yoga Alliance requirements, to fully achieve the RYT 500 status, you must log at least 100 hours of teaching experience once your 500-hour yoga teacher training is complete.

Why the 100-hour teaching requirement? Yoga Alliance believes that a Master Teacher is refined through both study and practice. Most of our students begin collecting these 100 hours immediately after passing out. Once 100 hours of real-world teaching are done, you are officially ready to be recognised as an RYT 500 instructor.

What the 500 hour YTTC enables:

  • Lead Advanced Workshops: Move beyond basics to teach specialised anatomy, advanced asanas, and therapeutic sessions.
  • Mentor New Teachers: Join training faculties and mentor 200-hour students as a recognised senior educator (ideally after you get RYT 500-certified).
  • Lead Global Retreats: Facilitate independent, high-level yoga and wellness retreats with the authority and qualifications that international institutions require.
  • Corporate and Clinical Roles: Access specialised opportunities in workplace wellness and rehabilitation where advanced therapy knowledge is mandatory.
  • Launch Premium Online Courses: Build a credible digital brand by teaching advanced concepts rather than just beginner content.
  • Found Your Own School: Establish the professional foundation needed to eventually run your own certified teacher training programmes.

Become A Successful Yoga Teacher

We Are Giving Back To Society

Yoga has always meant more to us than postures and breathing techniques. From the very beginning, Vinyasa Yoga Academy was built on the belief that real yoga lives in how you treat the world around you. Rishikesh gave us a home, a community, and a purpose, and giving back to this land is something we feel in our bones, not something we planned on a whiteboard.

Over the years, we have worked closely with orphanages in Rishikesh, bringing meals, shelter support, and yoga to children who needed steadiness in their lives. We have also run health awareness camps for families in the local area who rarely get access to basic medical guidance, simple sessions on hygiene, preventive care, and healthy habits that most of us take for granted. We take pride in conducting cleaning initiatives to make the environment cleaner, and we actively advocate waste management methods to improve the community's general health.

Questions You May Have

Frequently Asked Questions — 500 Hours Yoga Teacher Training in Bali

What Exactly Is A 500 Hour Yoga Teacher Training?

It is the most comprehensive level of yoga teacher education available, a single program that combines the full 200-hour and 300-hour curriculum. On completion, you are eligible to register as a Yoga Alliance RYT 500 without needing to combine separate certificates from two different courses or two different schools.

Do I Need Prior Yoga Experience To Join?

No, the 500-hour YTTC begins with a foundation and progresses to an advanced level, so complete beginners are genuinely welcome. Many of our strongest graduates came in with no formal yoga background. What matters is the willingness to commit to 56 days of intensive daily practice and study.

What Is The Difference Between Completing 200 + 300 Hours Separately Versus The 500-Hour Programme?

The practical difference is integration. When you move from foundational to advanced in one continuous program, the knowledge connects in ways it cannot when months or years separate the two phases. The 500 hour YTTC also gives you a single clean certificate from one registered school, with one verified training record.

What Is The Fee For The 500 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Bali?

The all-inclusive fee for the 500 Hour Yoga Teacher Training in Bali starts from $2,490 USD, covering course tuition, accommodation (shared or private), daily sattvic meals, study materials, yoga props, excursions, and your completion certificate. For current pricing, available dates, and early-bird offers, call us at +62-8132881810.

Which Yoga Styles And Subjects Are Covered In A 500-Hour YTTC In Bali?

The full curriculum covers Hatha, Ashtanga, and Vinyasa yoga at both foundation and advanced levels; pranayama from basic to advanced Kumbhaka; multiple meditation techniques, yoga philosophy across Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, anatomy and physiology, yoga therapy, energy anatomy, Ayurveda, mantra, mudra, bandha, Shatkarma, yoga nidra, and teaching methodology at every stage of the programme.

Will I Get Teaching Practice Throughout The Course?

Yes. Teaching practice is embedded in the programme, not reserved for the final week. You stand at the front of the room regularly under direct specialist supervision to progressively build the teaching tone and maturity that comes from repeated, guided practice.

What Language Is The 500 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Conducted In?

The entire programme is conducted in English, making it accessible to students from all around the world. All lectures, teaching sessions, study materials, and assessments are in English. If you are a non-native English speaker, there is no need to worry; our teachers communicate clearly and patiently, ensuring every student feels confident and included.

What Will I Eat During My 56-Day Yoga TTC Stay At VYA Bali?

You'll eat freshly prepared sattvic vegetarian food, or the traditional yogic diet. Meals that are light, whole, and designed to support sustained daily practice without heaviness. Lunch and dinner on Sundays are not served on campus. Bali's vegan and plant-based cafe scene is outstanding and within easy reach for you to explore.

Will I Still Get My 500-Hour Certificate From VYA Even If I Haven't Taught Yet?

Yes, you will receive your Vinyasa Yoga Academy 500-hour Yoga Teacher Training course completion certificate after passing a simple course assessment at the end. The 100-hour teaching requirement is only for those who wish to hold the specific "RYT 500" title from the Yoga Alliance.

How Do I Prove Or Log My 100 Hours For An RYT 500 Certificate?

It's done through a simple process of self-reporting and through your Yoga Alliance dashboard. You will log the dates, location, and type of class taught. You don't usually need to provide a signed letter for every hour, but it is good practice to keep a personal log in case there's an audit.

Is Bali Safe For International Travellers Staying For Over A Month For YTTC?

Yes, Bali has been on the top list for yoga practitioners and learners for a long time. It is consistently rated as one of the world's safest and most welcoming destinations for solo travellers. The culture is warm, respectful, and genuinely hospitable, the kind of place where a month feels like settling in rather than passing through.

What Is The Refund And Rescheduling Policy?

The 20% advance booking deposit that you pay to save your seat is non-refundable. If, due to any reason, you need to reschedule your arrival, you can get transferred to a future batch provided you notify us at least 30 days before your start date. Your enrolment is valid for one year from the original booking date. Contact us at contact@vinyasayogaacademy.com or +62-8132881810.

Can I Open My Own Yoga School After I Complete 500 Hrs Yoga TTC In Bali?

Yes, you can. The RYT 500 is the credential that makes running your own teacher training programme professionally viable. Combined with the depth of knowledge and the teaching experience you develop over 56 days in this 500-hour YTTC in Bali, you have the foundation to build something of your own. Many of our graduates have done exactly that.

Do I Need To Follow A Specific Lifestyle During The Training?

Yes, of course. The programme follows traditional yogic principles: a sattvic vegetarian diet is served on campus, and alcohol, non-vegetarian food, and tobacco are not permitted during the course. An early wake-up schedule and a committed daily practice routine are part of the structure.

Are Sundays Off?

Yes. Sundays are your day of complete freedom. A guided excursion takes you through the heart of Ubud, where you can explore and enjoy the local cuisine at the charming cafes and restaurants around town. Please note that lunch and dinner are not served on campus on Sundays.

Where Is The Campus Of Vinyasa Yoga Academy In Bali?

The campus is located in Ubud, Bali, a peaceful, culturally rich area known for its preserved heritage, cosy environment, and natural beauty. For more info, call us at +62-8132881810 or email us at contact@vinyasayogaacademy.com.
