Understanding The Basics

What Is Kundalini Yoga?

Kundalini Yoga is one of the oldest branches of yogic science, rooted in the Tantric tradition of ancient India and carried forward through the Himalayan lineages for thousands of years. It is also widely known as the “Yoga of Awareness”. Unlike most yoga styles, it goes far beyond physical movement and works deeply on your mind, energy, and inner awareness.

At its core, Kundalini Yoga awakens the dormant energy known as ‘Kundalini Shakti’, which lies coiled at the base of the spine, and guides it upward through the body's seven energy centres called ‘chakras’. It brings together breath, sound, movement, and stillness in one deeply intentional practice.

Over time, the shift you experience goes well beyond the mat, bringing greater calm, clarity, and a deeper connection with yourself in everyday life.

  • Yoga Of Awareness

Kundalini is the “Yoga of Awareness”. It works far beyond physical movement, bringing breath, sound, mantra, and stillness together to shift how you feel from the inside out.

  • No Experience Required

You don't need any prior yoga or Kundalini experience to join. Complete beginners are warmly welcome — only your willingness to show up and go inward is needed.

  • Awaken Kundalini Shakti

Awaken the dormant energy at the base of the spine and guide it upward through the seven chakras with traditional Himalayan kriyas, pranayama, and meditation.

Course Structure

Understanding The Structure Of The 100 Hour YTTC In Rishikesh

The 100 hour curriculum is organized around five traditional pillars of yoga. Together they form a complete, if compact, introduction to practice and teaching — the same structure that underpins our 200 and 300 hour programs, scaled down to fit an 8-day immersion.

Each pillar is taught daily, so rather than studying one topic for a week and moving on, you return to every subject every day. This repetition — the traditional gurukul method — is what makes 100 hours of genuine immersion noticeably different from the same number of hours spread across weekends at home.

Vinyasa Yoga Academy focuses on improved sleep quality, increased energy, mental health, stress relief, and physical well-being. We are a worldwide yoga community that follows karma yoga. We are here to offer ancient and traditional yoga practices of the Himalayas. As a yoga community, you will have some responsibilities and rules that you must follow.

You will be responsible for cleaning your space and it will foster a yogic sense in you. This responsibility deepens your yoga knowledge and basic principles. Our students are not allowed to consume meat, fish, eggs, non-vegetarian food, tobacco-based products, or alcohol during the course. These reduce the positive energy levels in your body and fill your mind with negative energy.

You need to stay away from bad habits to become a true yogi and learn traditional yoga practices. Your teachers are your well-wishers and you need to respect their decisions. Maintaining a calm and positive environment helps you bring your awareness back to your body.

Become A Successful Yoga Teacher

We Are Giving Back To Society

Yoga has always meant more to us than postures and breathing techniques. From the very beginning, Vinyasa Yoga Academy was built on the belief that real yoga lives in how you treat the world around you. Rishikesh gave us a home, a community, and a purpose, and giving back to this land is something we feel in our bones, not something we planned on a whiteboard.

Over the years, we have worked closely with orphanages in Rishikesh, bringing meals, shelter support, and yoga to children who needed steadiness in their lives. We have also run health awareness camps for families in the local area who rarely get access to basic medical guidance, simple sessions on hygiene, preventive care, and healthy habits that most of us take for granted. We take pride in conducting cleaning initiatives to make the environment cleaner, and we actively advocate waste management methods to improve the community's general health.
